“The Child Bereavement Service(CBS) was started in 1998 and provides a wide range of therapy, training and consultancy to support children whose lives have been devastated by trauma and grief following the death of a loved one.
CBS also supports families through their bereavement giving advice on parenting at this difficult time.
The age range of service useres is from 4 to 18 years, working closely also with other family members and professionals in order to support the child or young person.
In the Northern Locality CBS offers families bereaved by suicide support. Bereavement by suicide is particularly traumatic for children, young people and their familes. The children and young people are seen individually, in a peer group or as a family group.
Families are also offered the opportunity to attend a residential where they have a chance of meeting other families in grief and with the support of experienced staff explore feelings and emotions attached to their bereavement.” Bereavement
